You see a lot of adverts in London.
They sort of just blend into the background after a while. You end up just passively reading them because there’s nothing else to look at: ads on tube carriages telling you how to stay awake or not go bald, ads selling you theatre tickets on escalators and in tunnels, ads promoting tech companies (and also the time and temperature) on silicon roundabouts. Some are bright and in your face, others are inescapable and also a little bit stalker-y, literally following you around the city.
Some even sponsor entire fleets of moving vehicles, wrapping their entire brand around the outside of a cab or bus. And some, well… some go for the slightly less subliminal, “you’re all going to die unless you pay attention to this” approach.
Jury’s out on whether this bus ad is just an extreme way to announce that Wicked the musical’s closing (don’t worry, it’s not), or a novel way to strike fear into the heart and pints of Shoreditch’s immoral, rampaging booze hounds while promoting the church, but either way: the end is nigh, sinners.
