Just a short one, but there are a few outdoor events going on this weekend that you should probably know about. Mostly because after this weekend, it’s probably never going to be sunny ever again (i.e. it’s going to get cold), so here are some places where you can soak up some last minute vitamin D…
Dog lovers, observe!
There’s a dog show happening on Primrose Hill from 11am – 5pm today all in aid of Pupaid – a charity that raises awareness about puppy farming. Raises awareness that it’s bad, I mean. Not promoting it, that would be weird. Oh, you know what I mean. Anyway, there will be dogs, celebrities, and probably a lot of people standing around going “No, Flora darling, we cannot get a puppy.” It’s a brilliant cause and an even better way to spend the day in the last day of summer sunshine.
Poetry lovers, observe!
If you missed The Poetry Takeaway earlier in the year down on the Southbank, never fear – tomorrow it’s back. Part of the yearly Thames Festival happening all this weekend, you can grab your very own bespoke poem down by the OXO Tower. My advice? Go early.
People who didn’t get tickets for any Olympic stuff, observe!
Before tomorrow’s closing ceremony, you’ve got one last chance to get some Paralympic spirit in your face. The road marathon will be running (geddit) through central London tomorrow, so ignore the warning about huge crowds and go line the route.
And with that, we wave goodbye to summer and the Olympics and Paralympics.
See you later, sunshine. It’s been fun.
